Polsky Named CEO Of Neurology Association's For-Profit Unit
The American Academy of Neurology recently named Bruce A.F. Polsky CEO of AAN Enterpises Inc. (AEI), the association's for-profit subsidiary.
AEI currently oversees publishing of the bi-monthly Neurology, a scientific journal, Neurology Today, a monthly tabloid publication for neurologists and clinicians, and AAN News, a monthly newsletter for and about AAN members.
"The AAN continues to grow its membership and increase its resource offerings for neurologists and the medical community at large. We consider the addition of Bruce Polsky, with more than 20 years of entrepreneurial and publishing expertise, as another chapter in our association's growth" according to Catherine M. Rydell, executive director of the American Academy of Neurology, with corporate offices in St. Paul, MN. Polsky held executive and leadership positions with Oakstone Publishing in Birmingham, AL; Mosby-Year Book Inc., a division of Times-Mirror in St. Louis, MO; Little, Brown and Company, a division of Time/Warner in Boston, MA; and Newbury House Publishers, Rowley, MA.
"I think AEI faces a tremendous opportunity not only to expand our publishing ventures, but to develop and make relevant new practice tools for physicians," said Polsky.
AEI was established in 2000 as a business structure for AAN for-profit ventures. With the addition of Polsky, AEI is poised to expand beyond publishing to other products and services for physicians.
The American Academy of Neurology is a worldwide medical specialty society established in 1948 to promote the best possible care for patients with neurological disorders. Its membership exceeds 18,000 including practicing and research neurologists, and counts as its members most of the neurologists in the United States and many throughout the world.
