41st ICAAC Postponed Until December 2001
The following announcement was received from the American Society for Microbiology:
Because of the current situation in the United States, the American Society for Microbiology finds that it now must postpone the 41st Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) originally scheduled in Chicago, September 22-25, 2001. The ASM and the ICAAC Scientific Program Committee had hoped to proceed with this major infectious disease meeting. However, as events continue to unfold following the horrible tragedy of September 11, uncertainties concerning the availability of safe, scheduled air travel force us to take this action in the best interests of our infectious disease community. The meeting has been rescheduled for December 16-19, 2001 in Chicago. For the most current information on the status of the meeting, visit the ICAAC website.
The ASM wishes to express its sincere sorrow and sympathy for all the victims of this tragedy and their families. We will continue to fulfill our mission by disseminating scientific knowledge for the improvement of public health and welfare and our global environment.
