TCT Conference In Washington, D.C. Closes Tonight
The following statement was released yesterday by the organizers of Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), being held at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center and originally scheduled to end on Sunday, September 16:
“The gravity and magnitude of yesterday's events have affected everyone deeply. Over the last 24 hours, every conceivable emotion has been experienced and expressed. This morning, more than 3000 attendees and faculty gathered to discuss the appropriate course of action. Many of the physicians, nurses, and other health care providers have traveled great distances to receive some education to enhance their ability to care for their patients. Moreover, very few people can leave Washington, DC until late today at the earliest. In this light, we have collectively decided to hold sessions for the remainder of today (Wednesday). TCT 2001 will conclude tonight, Wednesday September 12 at 7:30 PM. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.”
Separately, some exhibitors have reportedly withdrawn from the conference citing concerns over the safety of their employees and the need to supply medical goods to emergency sites.
