Telephone Triage
Telenursing—in which nurses deliver, manage, and coordinate patient care and services via telecommunication technology—is one of the fastest growing areas in healthcare. That’s why the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing, Pitman, N.J., now offers the 16-CE credit-hour Telehealth Nursing Practice Core Course online at www.aaacn.org and on CD-ROM. The organization also offered the course live during its annual conference in April in Tampa, Fla., and will bring the course to hospitals, universities, clinics, and other facilities that offer telenursing services.
The course includes telephone triage, unique telehealth communication principles and techniques, telehealth patient care guidelines, and tips on handling high-risk patients and difficult calls, along with practical solutions to telenursing issues and legal concerns specific to telenurses.
For more, contact AACN at (800) AMB-NURS, or e-mail aaacn@ajj.com.
