10th Medicine And Virtual Reality Conference To Be Held In Southern California In January
At the Tenth Annual Medicine Meets Virtual Reality Conference, (MMVR) to be held January 23 to 26 at the Newport Beach (Calif.) Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, physicians will evaluate the newest high-tech tools for therapy-including information-guided surgery, data visualization, robotics, and distance medicine. They will examine underlying methods, assess impact on clinical care, and interact with researchers to compare novel solutions for healthcare problems.
The conference is expected to draw a mix of computer scientists, physicians, medical educators, and biomedical researchers and investors. “Digital Upgrades: Applying Moore's Law to Health” is this year's theme, an acknowledgement that VR technology has entered clinical care. The role of computer-based tools for diagnosis and therapy is now validated and refined as an ongoing process. Devices and methods that were once research projects are now available for utilization in an ordinary healthcare setting.
MMVR will include current topics in computer-based, data-focused technology with healthcare applications, including medical education tools. A major purpose of the conference is to educate healthcare providers on the goals, methods, successes, and limitations of products commercially available and refine the evaluation of products' relevance to day-to-day clinical care and training; and also to nurture a partnership with industry to promote continually improved and economically viable products for care and education.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine and Aligned Management Associates, Inc.
