Omni Hotels First to Launch Mobile Phone Check-In

Guests of Omni Hotels can now check in using their Web-enabled mobile phones, and their room keys will be waiting for them when they arrive. Omni says it is the first brand to offer the mobile check-in capability, which is available through the company’s new mobile Web site. The site also offers users access to hotel info as well as the ability to book reservations and view special offers via their cell phones.

“Our goal was to give travelers the means to check-in to the hotel while on the go, obtain maps, and get directions to the hotel,” said Kerry Kennedy, director of e-commerce for Omni Hotels, in a statement. “Today, these are becoming necessities for the busy business traveler.”

When a user visits www.omnihotels.com via a mobile device, the site automatically detects what type of mobile device is being used and provides a mobile-friendly version of the site, optimized for the user’s phone. Omni plans to further develop the site to allow guests to request hotel services during their stay, such as valet service, baggage retrieval, room service, and housekeeping, via their mobile phones.
