12 Great Golf Resorts for Meetings

You know that nothing gets your attendees' hearts pumping harder than the thrill of a golf getaway. And you know that you'll have a rapt, captive audience for days. But what are your site priorities—absolutely top-quality golf? Meeting space? Accessibility? Cost? You won't find them all at the same place, but our editors' picks present a diversity of options.

Forty miles north of Milwaukee, The American Club, also known as “Destination Kohler,” is widely acclaimed as the top golf resort in the Midwest. Best for small, high-end groups, but the largest meeting room holds 750.

Your attendees may like seeing their golf balls fly 10 percent farther than normal at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, 6,500 feet above sea level. Three gorgeous courses and 60 meeting rooms for groups up to 2,500, all at the foot of Pike's Peak.

It's a bit off the beaten path in the Idaho panhandle, but Coeur d'Alene Resort provides a high-class experience at a price point that's tough to duplicate elsewhere. There's just one golf course, so smaller groups are ideal. Conversation piece: the world's only floating green!

At the Four Seasons Resort Lana'i, two superb golf courses, two luxurious hotels, and a combined 90,000 square feet of meeting space aren't really at the heart of the matter. The clincher is the island's breathtaking Hawaiian beauty.

The Greenbrier and elegance always seem to be mentioned in the same breath. Loads of meeting space, historic golf courses, and don't forget to tour the West Virginia resort's underground bunker, built as an emergency bomb shelter to house Congress.

The site of one of history's most famous golf matches, the 1991 Ryder Cup, Kiawah Island Golf Resort on the South Carolina coast boasts what is perhaps the most decorated Atlantic Ocean course. Half of the 35,000 square feet of meeting space is at the hotel, the other half spread around the 10,000-acre island.

Though luxurious, Lake Las Vegas is less pricey than some of the more venerable names on this list. One of its two courses has some of the most audacious elevation changes ever seen in golf. Its three hotels and Italian pedestrian village are 25 minutes from The Strip.

If money is no object, Pebble Beach Resorts near Monterey, Calif., has few peers. Three ocean courses with spectacular scenery, including the legendary Pebble Beach Links, are stunning.

With just 13,000 square feet of group space, PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla., is no meetings mecca. But it won't break your budget, and the cutting-edge PGA Center for Golf Learning provides a dimension not found at most resorts.

Groups that can't get enough golf will be in heaven at North Carolina's Pinehurst Resort. Its eight very different courses include the famed No. 2, the site of many major championships. Meeting space weighs in at 60,000 square feet.

Halfway between Savannah, Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla., Sea Island offers stellar golf but also a rich selection of outdoor activities to keep the non-golfers in your group happy: fishing, shooting, nature tours, and a five-mile stretch of private beach.

OK, so it doesn't have the golf pedigree of Pebble Beach or Pinehurst, but Walt Disney World Resort does offer five solid courses, endless meeting space, and very affordable rates. Airfares to easy-access Orlando tend to be cheap, too.
