Vegas visitors, hotel rates, pool parties are up from last year
Things are looking up in Las Vegas, according to numbers released by the city's convention and visitors authority. The number of visitors to Las Vegas through July is 21.9 million, a 2.3 percent increase over the same period last year. Average room rates also are up 2.5 percent, to $95. It's not quite so rosy for the convention side, however: Conventions and meetings were down 6.7 percent through July, compared with the same period last year.
