Hawaii has a deserved reputation as an exotic leisure destination. Now, with the recent launch of a new Web site, state tourism officials want to ensure that business audiences recognize the Hawaii brand when it comes to holding meetings and conventions as well.
Hawaiiworks.com is intended to provide audiences with information about meetings, conventions, and business development in the islands. “We are delighted to offer a site that provides current and prospective business visitors to the islands with a user-friendly, one-stop integrated portal where they can easily access details on Hawaii Commerce,” says Rex Johnson, president of the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
The Web site will also focus on emerging industries such as biotechnology and medical research, and will provide links to relevant contacts, including the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau’s Corporate Meetings and Incentives division.
“Hawaii has traditionally been a leisure destination and, consequently, has a very strong leisure travel brand,” says Frank Haas, HTA marketing director. “Many people are unaware of the significant business activity that takes place here, including important meetings and conventions attended by executives from as close as California, through the rest of the mainland U.S., to other countries in Asia and Europe.”
