There's lots going on for incentive and association planners alike at IMEX, the worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings, and events, taking place April 8 to 10 in Frankfurt, Germany. A few highlights:
The Convention Industry Council (CIC) will announce the expansion of its Certified Meeting Professional designation into Europe. In response to input from European planners and suppliers, the exam format has been revised to make it country neutral and the new exam will be administered during next year's IMEX. A leadership breakfast about the CMP will be held at this year's show.
Free professional guidance on how to boost executive productivity and personal motivation will be provided in the Performance Improvement Pavilion at IMEX. The Society ofand Travel Executives, in association with Maritz, will be coordinating the new pavilion, with room for theatre-style presentations and private meeting facilities. Top industry professionals will be on-hand to give advice, and presentation topics will include lifestyle and workplace psychology; return on investment: how to measure successfully; and excellence in motivational program delivery.
Association Day will take place on Monday, April 7. It is being coordinated by ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) in association with the International Association of Congress Centres, the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers, the European Society of Association Executives, the American Society of Association Executives, and the International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus. Hosted association buyers will have the opportunity to attend a full afternoon seminar program. The keynote, Cyril Ritchie, president of the Federation of International Institutions in Geneva, will present "Connecting people and cultures in a turbulent world: The changing roles of international associations."
Other topics of discussion: practical security concerns for running international events post 9/11, ethical dimensions in international association activity, and multi-cultural issues for international associations. For more, visit www.imex-frankfurt.com.
