As the first anniversary of September 11—Patriot Day—approaches, several hoteliers have decided to "thank" their clients in the same way a number of airlines have chosen to do so—by offering specials and encouraging travel for those in need of time away. Many have decided to use Hotelrooms.com as their herald.

Special rates can be accessed on the site by clicking on the 9/11 banner about midway through the page. The site reports that it has already seen an increase in Web traffic. It expects even higher hits in the first few days of September.
