The terminology report – the first in a series of seven standards reports for all aspects of the meetings, convention, and exhibition industries – will be released within the month by the APEX Commission, spearheaded by the Convention Industry Council.

The reports are the culmination of two and a half years of research and effort by the respective APEX panels. Work began in early 2001, and in late In December 2002, preliminary versions were sent around the country seeking feedback from industry professionals.

The terminology report features the APEX Industry Glossary, which delineates 3,852 terms and definitions that will represent the language of the industry. The glossary, not yet released, can be accessed on-line at the website (www.conventionindustry.org). The glossary will include hyperlinks to definitions and external websites, and graphics.

To date, the APEX Commission, sponsored by the CIC, has raised more than $1 million for the APEX Project, and is more than half way to its $1.9 million fundraising goal.
