The Convention Industry Council (CIC) has formulated its Issues Summit, scheduled to be held December 3 at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in Chicago, to bring together people from various segments of the hospitality industry to discover ways to get back to business in these uncertain times. The idea, according to CIC, is to work together in a participatory way to help build a framework of meeting industry enhancements, and generate ideas that can be implemented immediately.

The issues on the agenda are: Industry Unity and Resolve; Best Practices for the Industry; Working Together to Rebuild; Restoring Confidence and Stability; Meeting Safety and Preparing Attendees for the New "Rules of Travel;" Exploring New Flexibility in Contracts; Promoting Face-to-Face Meetings as the Way for People to Reconnect; Reviewing Crisis Management Procedures and Meetings Safety Measures; New Barriers to Meetings; Proactive Marketing in the New Economy.

Randy Pennington, a consultant and author on leadership, change management and values-based performance will facilitate the general program. The ideas developed at the summit will be formally presented to the Convention Industry Council of Delegates in a position-paper format, with the participants listed as contributors. CIC will use the Internet/Web Boards to keep discussions going among participants.

Registration information can be found on CIC’s website www.conventionindustry.org.
