CMI & ICP Readers Choose 2003 Golden Links Winners

Readers voted for their favorites in three categories: 1) Best Golf Resort for Meetings & Incentives, 2) Best New Resort Course/Renovation, and 3) Best Service/Staffing.

Taking first place as the "Best Overall Golf Resort for Meetings & Incentives" is the American Club in Kohler, Wisc., with four 18-hole courses designed by Pete Dye.

"The American Club has the best collection of golf courses at one resort in the whole state of Wisconsin, in fact quite possibly the whole Midwest," said Golden Links Advisory Board member Gary Pearson, director, meetings & conventions, Aon Service Corporation in Chicago.

The first-place winner in the "Best New Resort Course/Renovation" category is the Ritz-Carlton Naples, which opened last fall with the 36-hole Tiburon course. The resort also took second place in our "Best Golf Resort " category. The second-place winner in the "Best New Resort Course/Renovation" category was Doral Resort & Spa's Blue Monster, redesigned in the late '90s by Raymond Floyd.

Our "Best Service and Staffing" category was dominated by two of the finest classic golf resorts in the country: Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va., and Pinehurst Resort in Piinehurst, N.C., with Coeur d'Alene Resort in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, taking second place.
