Jill Harrington, executive vice president/c.e.o. of the Society of Incentive & Travel Executives, is leaving her position as of March 31.
Harrington has served as SITE's administrative head for more than two years.
"Right now, this is our most important challenge-any time you have a change in leadership, it's a big challenge," said Peggy Whitman, incoming SITE president and western regional sales manager, Marriott Incentive Awards. "We have just launched an executive search for someone to take Jill's place, and we're just hoping we find someone who's as good as she has been for the organization."
Whitman said SITE will attempt to work out a way by which the organization can involve Harrington in further strengthening its educational-delivery efforts.
"Education is Jill's first love, and we're looking for a way to continue benefiting from her expertise as an educator," Whitman said. "She has done much in her tenure with SITE to build awareness of the importance of incentive programs in the business world."
Whitman takes over as SITE president Jan 1. She will outline her plans for her one-year term of office in a comprehensive interview scheduled to appear in Corporate Meeting & Incentive's February issue.
