Medsn, a Los Angeles-based healthcare marketing and education solutions provider, has announced the launch of its Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) course catalog. Click here to see the catalog.)

With this library of 16 hours of computer-based courseware Medsn hopes to revolutionize anatomy and physiology training.

"Mastery of core anatomy and physiology concepts is an essential prerequisite for all disease and therapeutic training," says Medsn CEO Dennis Bonilla. "By offering these courses in both a web-based and CD-ROM environment, we provide pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies, hospitals, and healthcare organizations with an accessible and affordable foundational training alternative."

Created for and used by pharmaceutical sales reps, nurses, EMT's and other non-physician healthcare professionals, these anatomy and physiology modules contain a mix of text, synchronized audio, graphics, medical images and animations.

The release of this new course catalog follows a study by the Institute for Simulation and Training at the University of Central Florida in which the effectiveness of Medsn's web-based training solutions, including the A&P catalog content, were judged against traditional paper-based training methods. Subjects using Medsn's web-based approach scored 80.5% on multiple-choice tests, while students using traditional instruction scored only 61% on identical tests. Preferences in favor of the Medsn modules were pronounced on a number of attributes including effectiveness of illustrations and instructional design effectiveness.

The Medsn catalog courses have also been successfully tested with some of the leading Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Docent, Saba, Plateau, and Oracle iLearning. A Medsn module, or a course comprising multiple modules, can be imported into any AICC-certified or SCORM 1.2-compliant LMS. In addition, the Medsn learning objects can communicate with the LMS to track course progress information.
