The San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau has named Peter M. Green as vice president of sales and services. Among his duties will be the management of the convention sales staffs. Since 1998, Green has been director of sales andat the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.
Misti Kerns took over July 1 as the executive director of the Santa Monica (Calif.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. A 20-year veteran of the industry, Kerns, who joined the bureau in 1997, was director of sales and marketing, and was mentored for several years by the former director, Beverly Moore. Also at the Santa Monica CVB, Joanne M. Bogus has been named director of corporate sales. Prior to her appointment, Bogus founded Restaurants Direct Inc., a private event planning and booking service.
The Hawai‘i Visitors and Convention Bureau has appointed Joseph Nagle and Meredith Parkins as directors of accounts on the mainland. Nagle, regional director of accounts for the Northeast, will be based in the Boston area. He was most recently national sales manager at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua in Maui, and was previously on the staff of the American Academy of Medical Preventics. Parkins, regional director of accounts, will be responsible for the division’s Washington, D.C.–area office in Arlington, Va. She previously was sales manager at Swissotel Washington (D.C.).
Sally Forrest has been promoted to director of marketing, convention sales and services, at the San Antonio (Texas) Convention and Visitors Bureau. She succeeds Alicia Vargas, who retired in January. Forrest is a 13-year veteran of the SACVB. Previously, she was associate director of convention sales. Also at the bureau, John Solis has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing. His responsibilities will include convention sales.
