Duffy Moves Up at Maritz
Maritz Inc. has named Christine Duffy president and chief executive officer of Maritz Travel, a business unit of the Fenton, Mo.-based company specializing in meetings, events, and incentive travel management. Duffy had been president and chief operating officer of Maritz McGettigan, which was acquired by Maritz in 2001.
Maritz McGettigan is a leader in the meeting consolidation movement. A recent press release from the company stated that six of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies saved nearly $75 million on meetings in 18 months by using Maritz McGettigan's meeting consolidation process.
Duffy is a 20-year veteran in the field of meetings with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical industry. She is chairwoman-elect of Meeting Professionals International's international board of directors. She has also served MPI as chairwoman of the Women's Leadership Initiative and chairwoman of the MPI Recognition Task Force.
This March, she will chair the inaugural Pharmaceutical Meeting Planners Forum, produced by Medical Meetings and the Center for Business Intelligence.
