LaRue Frye, a well-known association industry figure for almost three decades, has moved on to new endeavors. The mayor of Martinsburg, Va., has named Frye chair of a committee that will examine the feasibility of funding the development of the city's Roundhouse Properties, a pre-Civil War railroad complex. With funding, the area would be turned into a civic and convention center. Frye served with the American Society of Association Executives from 1970 to 1992. Most recently, she was executive director of the Convention Liaison Council. She also runs an inn in Martinsburg, Va., and has her own meeting management and consulting company, LaRue, Inc.
Meeting Processionals International in Dallas has appointed Debbie Mann, CMP, manager of conferences and meetings. She joins MPI from the Professional Convention Management Association in Birmingham, Ala., where she was meeting manager.
The American Society of Association Executives, in Washington, D.C., has announced two appointments. Sheila Paige has been named director of meeting operations. Previously, she served as director of meetings and conventions for the National Association of School Psychologists in Bethesda, Md. Marsha Rhea, CAE, has been promoted to vice president and CEO of the ASAE Foundation. She had been director of education.
