Opryland 1, 2, 3 Privately owned convention facilities are growing in number, and one of the most successful players in this arena, Gaylord Entertainment's Opryland Hotel

Convention Center in Nashville, is moving forward with a brand extension that includes new Opryland hotel and convention complexes in both Florida and Texas: * Work on the $350 million Opryland Hotel Florida in Kissimmee-St. Cloud, Fla., is under way after groundbreaking ceremonies were held in June. When it opens in February 2002 with 178,000 square feet of exhibit space and 202,000 square feet of meeting space, the hotel/convention/entertainment complex, right outside the gates of Disney World, will be the hospitality group's first property to be built outside Nashville.

* Opryland Hotel Texas is set to break ground in the middle of next year in Grapevine, Texas. It is expected to open in 2003. Plans include 1,500 hotel rooms, a four-acre enclosed atrium, and 380,000 square feet of meeting and exhibition space--all under one roof.

And there will be more. According to Opryland Hospitality Group spokesman Paul Lindsley, Gaylord plans to open five to seven Opryland resort convention facilities in the next 10 years.
