Mike Olson, former American Society of Association Executives president and CEO, will join association management company SmithBucklin, effective January 12, as executive vice president. He will be based in Washington, D.C., and he will have overall responsibility for client management and business development. SmithBucklin, headquartered in Chicago, is the country's largest association management firm.

Phillip J. Jones has been chosen to head the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau. He has been secretary of the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism for the past seven years, and from 1993 to 1996 he worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce.

SmithBucklin has named Steve Bova, CAE, executive director of the International Reprographic Association. Before joining SmithBucklin, Bova served as executive director of the Warehousing Education and Research Council in Oak Brook, Ill.

Linda Eisan has been appointed convention sales manager at the Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she will focus on sales for the new Virginia Beach Convention Center, now under construction. Most recently Eisan was director of government travel for a hotel management group.

Sally W. Levy has joined the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives in the newly created position of director of sales. Levy spent 18 years based in the Washington, D.C., area as director of sales, Eastern region, for the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau. In 2001, she was recognized at the GWSAE “In Honor of Women” luncheon as one of the top women executives in the marketplace.

At the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center, Judy Lynn Dufour has been appointed director of association sales. Dufour was previously account executive for the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau.
