TS2, the National Trade Productions Inc., retools the event for 2012.for exhibit and event professionals, has been canceled for 2011 as the show’s owner,
After a review of the show following the July 2010 TS2 in Boston, it became apparent to ownership that exhibitors and attendees are “looking for new and innovative solutions to bring the community together,” according to a press release. The 2011 meeting was to be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in June. Officials could not be reached for additional details at press time.
This decision allows Alexandria, Va.–based NTP to “focus on new strategies that will bring meaningful interaction between the suppliers and TS2 attendees,” the release stated. Last summer’s show in Boston attracted about 1,557 attendees, down from about 1,893 the previous year in Chicago.
Both the International Association of Exhibitions and Events and the Trade Show Exhibitors Association have held meetings in conjunction with TS2. IAEE co-located its Mid-Year Meeting at TS2 in Boston in 2010. In light of the circumstances, IAEE’s Mid-Year Meeting will now be held at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, D.C., June 1-3, confirmed Steven Hacker, IAEE president and chief executive officer. TSEA has held its annual meeting in conjunction with TS2 since it sold the show to NTP in 2004. Specific dates for TSEA’s annual meeting will be announced in January 2011, according to a statement on TSEA’s Web site.
“As TS2 evolves over the next year, we will continue to serve the trade show industry with the same dedication TS2 has exemplified over the past 37 years,” said Christopher Harar, TS2 show director, in the release. “This is a new beginning for TS2 and its supporters. We are excited about the future events that are now under development.”
