In a post last week about how education about better communication with patients can reduce medical errors. I thought that while pharma might not be too interested in sponsoring this type of thing, insurance companies should be all over it. A reader e-mailed me this morning saying that no one wants to touch on providing commercial support for CME on "how best to communicate medical errors." This person has given up even trying.
That's really sad. If anyone has a success story on getting funding for this topic, please e-mail me. This is too important to docs, patients, and the bottom line not to be the subject of CME. And it points out one of the fatal errors in the CME system, where so many good topics never see the light of day because no one wants to provide a grant for them.
