Every business traveler looks for new ways to make life on the road easier. That’s why the Global Business Travel Association, along with The Wall Street Journal, created the annual Business Traveler Innovation Awards.

At its annual convention, held last week in Denver, GBTA announced this year’s winners: Hipmunk.com, chosen by a panel of judges, and Hertz NeverLost Gen 5, winner of the People’s Choice Award, decided on-site by convention attendees.

Hipmunk.com is a new travel search site that presents flight results in a visual "timeline" that allows people to select the best flight for them at a glance, while hotel results are presented on a map that also shows the neighborhood and surrounding landmarks. The company was co-founded by 2010 MIT grad, Adam Goldstein, just three weeks after his graduation.

NeverLost is a real-time, navigation service offered to Hertz rental car customers. It keeps a signal where other less-sophisticated GPS systems lose theirs; lets you pre-plan your trip, save it to a USB flash drive, and then load it; and provides concierge-assisted routing services. Best of all, it is installed in Hertz cars, so users don’t have to deal with a hand-held device.
