You've heard it before — “Finally, a Web site that provides one-stop shopping for all your meeting planning needs.” But ConventionPlanit.com, unveiled in June at Hospitality Sales &Association International's spring and scheduled for full launch in September, promises that its site will really deliver the goods.
Developed with the help of an 11-member advisory council of meeting and hospitality professionals, the site is designed to be a comprehensive search engine — not only for sites and facilities, but also for meeting service providers, industry associations, trade publications, industry calendars, and employment resources. Although the search engine functions aren't up and running yet, and despite a somewhat cutesy outer space theme, the demo site is clean and easy to navigate. If all goes as planned, it looks as if it might live up to its billing as an all-around online planning resource.
Even before it goes live, ConventionPlanit is generating interest in the hospitality community as a good way to get in front of meeting planners. It has signed agreements with Carlson Hotels Worldwide, and other properties are considering the site's advertising opportunities, according to information on the demo site. HSMAI also gave it a vote of confidence by offering special advertising discounts to members.
