In response to the meeting industry's growing concerns over attrition caused by attendees who book outside the block, the Convention Industry Council launched Project Attrition in April 2003 to come up with recommendations and solutions. Last month, the Project Attrition Task Force issued its final report.

A white paper, which can be found at the resources section of the CIC Web site,, is aimed at giving planners and suppliers a toolbox and resources to combat the problem. The last piece of Project Attrition, the results of the attendee behavior survey, will be released in March.
