Corporate Meetings & Incentives' reader survey takes the pulse of the incentive industry each year, asking meeting professionals about their preferences and practices. This year's results can be summed up as cautiously optimistic, with average per-qualifier spending in 2003 up 7.6 percent over 2002, and incentive travel budgets beginning to thaw. Only 52 percent of respondents report flat or decreasing budgets, compared to 63 percent in our previous survey.
Other key findings include steady and significant growth in the cruise incentives market; a cooling off for international incentives in 2004 after a bump in 2003; and sunny, safe sites taking most of the top spots on the list of popular incentive destinations.

About This Survey
This survey was conducted by Primedia Business Marketing Research, which contacted 3,081 random CMI subscribers by e-mail on October 9, 2003, and invited them to follow a link to an online survey. Two follow-up e-mails were sent later that month. The results here are based on 200 useable responses, an effective response rate of 6.5 percent.
