* Conferon Targets Small Meetings Conferon, the Twinsburg, OH-based meeting planning firm, recently launched a small meetings department. Designed to locate an appropriate property within five days of receiving a request for proposal (RFP), Conferon Express handles meetings that use from 50 to 150 room nights. * New Name for Holiday Inn Holiday Inn Worldwide, franchisor of Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn Express hotels and a unit of Bass PLC, has renamed itself Holiday Hospitality. The new name is meant to reflect the fact that the company is a multibrand hotel chain. Now in the midst of a $1 billion renovation of all Holiday Inn hotels, the company also is renewing its focus on customer service and guest satisfaction.
* Dolce International in the Fast (Growth) Lane Conference center manager Dolce International, based in Montvale, NJ, has formed a partnership with AEW Partners II, an investment partnership managed by AEW Capital Management in Boston. The purpose of the partnership is to fund an aggressive plan to acquire and develop conference center hotels and resorts in the U.S. and Europe.
The plan calls for Dolce's expansion to 30 properties in five years. The first acquisitions already have been concluded: Tarrytown House in Westchester County, NY, managed by Dolce since 1994; and Heritage Inn, Southbury, CT, managed by Dolce since 1991. Other locations targeted by Dolce: Chicago, California, Florida, and London.
