Corporate Meetings & Incentives columnist and recognition guru Bob Nelson has done it again with his latest book, The 1001 Rewards & Recognition Fieldbook (co-written with Dean Spitzer, PhD, 2003, Workman Publishing, New York). The book is exactly that, a hands-on guide packed with “no-cost ideas” for saying thank you to employees, take-aways at the end of each chapter, and quick reference cards on various forms of recognition that can be shared with colleagues. Many of the ideas focus on simple ways to appreciate what employees have done, “so you can build a culture of recognition that will survive and thrive in good times and bad.” We especially liked the spots on efforts that didn't work out (cleverly titled “wreckognitions”). There's something for everyone.
