Over the next two years, more than 3,350 new rooms are expected to open in Puerto Rico, bringing the total to more than 16,000. Spurring the boom is the projected 2004 opening of the 600,000-square-foot Puerto Rico Convention Center. One of the higher profile hotels opening is the 313-room Inter-Continental Cayo Largo Resort, a luxury oceanfront property set to open in early 2003 featuring a spa, golf, and extensive meeting facilities. The 490-room Paradisus Puerto Rico Beach & Golf Resort, the island's first all-inclusive property, is slated to open in late 2003 with two golf courses, a casino, and a convention center with seven meeting rooms that total 12,000 square feet of space.
