• The London Convention Bureau launched a new Web site, www.londonconventionbureau.com, during The Motivation Show in September. The site includes a venue/services database that is searchable by name or by capacity, including banquet, boardroom, classroom, reception, and theater-style, as well as “all sorts of info about London,” says Mady Keup, head of the convention bureau. It also includes special events calendars, links to meetings calendars, and a link to www.visitLondon.com. “It's all easy to download in PDF format,” adds Keup.

  • Considering Monaco? The principality released a new CD-ROM this summer that is specifically for meeting and incentive travel planners. The disc provides details on hotels and meeting venues; sample itineraries; information on history, culture, and weather; and a multimedia presentation.   • In other Monaco news, two premier hotel renovations will reduce the number of available rooms and venues in 2003. The Hotel Hermitage is adding two floors, increasing its room count by 60. But nearly 85 percent of the hotel will be closed for the six-month revitalization, which should be complete by the end of 2003. And at Le Metropole Palace, the doors will be shut for six months in the first half of 2003 for a major renovation. In the end, the hotel will lose about 20 of its sleeping rooms and add a world-class spa.

  • Dolce International, the Montvale, N.J.-based conference center management company, has expanded its European presence by acquiring its first German property. On a 200-acre park outside Frankfurt, the Parkhotel Bad Nauheim has been converted to the Dolce Am Kurpark. It has 160 guest rooms and 22 meeting spaces. Dolce, which has five properties in Europe and 14 in North America, enhanced its Web site this fall with a new e-RFP system that allows clients to search for Dolce properties and submit meeting specs. Users are promised a response to the request for proposal within 30 minutes.
