To spice up the annual meeting of Sears' Risk Management Division, the company recently sent employees on a scavenger hunt--a two-hour trek through downtown Chicago, where they deciphered riddles that led them to Loop landmarks and snapped Polaroids of their teams.

The event, designed by Creative Impact Group in Deerfield, Ill., fostered cooperation and competition among 50 employees, who split into teams donning Sears T-shirts. The first group that arrived back at the starting point with all the correct snapshots won travel alarm clocks.

But the real prize was having fun while working together, comments Gregg Steigmeyer of Creative Impact.

"This type of event is great for developing team cohesion," he says of the scavenger hunt. "And it's practically guaranteed to generate a lot of excitement. People always get into it.
