The $40 million all-suite Doubletree Sedona Resort, the first new resort in Red Rock County, Ariz., since the 1980s, opened in November. The 225-suite hotel offers a 10,000-square-foot Executive Meeting Center, a full-service spa, and access to the Gary Panks-designed, 18-hole Sedona Golf Resort Course.
The Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco will be part of a major mixed-use development on Market Street. The 227-room hotel, due to open in 2000, will offer 16,000 square feet of meeting space and will be directly connected to a 100,000-square-foot sports club.
With the construction of a new 19-story, 500-room tower, the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort will become the largest hotel in the Marriott portfolio. When the project is completed late this year, the hotel will have some 2,000 guest rooms and more than 160,000 square feet of meeting space.
The 500-room, 68-suite Hilton Miami Airport and Towers has completed Phase Two of a multimillion-dollar renovation, including a complete refurbishing of 200 guest rooms. Phase Three, which will renovate the rest of the rooms, is scheduled for this summer. The property, on a private peninsula in the heart of a 100-acre freshwater lake, offers 30,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Sheraton Perimeter Center Hotel & Suites became a new W Atlanta Perimeter North hotel in January, one of 13 W hotels that will be operating by the end of 1999. W Atlanta Perimeter North has 120 guest rooms and 132 one-bedroom suites, and is 22 minutes from Hartsfield International Airport. The hotel offers 10,000 square feet of meeting space, state-of-the-art telecommunications capabilities, a spa and fitness center, and a complete business center.
The Milwaukee Hilton has started construction on a 20,000-square-foot water theme park, the first of its kind in an urban hotel setting. Called Paradise, the theme park is part of a $40 million expansion project that will include a tower with 200 new guest rooms, 4,000 square feet of meeting space, and a skywalk connecting the hotel to Milwaukee's new Midwest Express Convention Center. When completed in summer 2000, the hotel will have 750 guest rooms and 30,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Crowne Plaza Inn at the Crossings in Warwick, R.I., is expanding. The property will embark on Phase Two of a multiyear project in March, adding a 7,200-square-foot ballroom, three 1,200-square-foot meeting rooms, and 8,000 square feet of pre-function space, bringing the hotel's total meeting space to 33,000 square feet. Phase Three will add golf facilities on the hotel grounds. The 266-room property also offers a fitness center, dataports, and voice mail in guest rooms.
