Motivation expert Bob Nelson has done it again with his latest book, 1001 Ways to Take Initiative at Work (1999, Workman Publishing). Nelson, author of 1001 Ways to Reward Employees (and a Corporate Meetings & Incentives columnist), has a talent for finding richly detailed real-life stories about everyday people from hundreds of companies around the world (probably because he's been inside so many as a consultant). This book, although not written for management, is packed with advice all managers should follow, from tips on being proactive, to selling your ideas, to identifying your company's culture and values so you can gear your staff in that direction.
