Sundance Resort has opened the Redford Conference Center, which offers 3,500 square feet of meeting space. The conference center’s opening coincides with the final stages of a multimillion-dollar lodging room renovation of the 5,000-acre destination resort founded by actor and director Robert Redford in Sundance, Utah. The reception areas are designed to bring the outdoors in, and the rustic, yet elegant, design is evident in the center’s hand-placed stone hearths and use of reclaimed barn wood.
Environmentally friendly elements include a geothermal heating and cooling system that pulls heat from the ground below the building in winter; in summer, heat from the building is dispersed deep into the ground, allowing for efficient cooling. In addition, 95 percent of the lights in the new conference center are LED or fluorescent, the carpet in the ballroom is 100 percent PVC-free, and the hearthstone was locally quarried.
Besides hosting external groups’ meetings, the Redford Conference Center will be home to Sundance leadership conferences, the Sundance Author Series, specialty retreats, and topical public policy summits.
