Active Network Business Solutions, the division of Active Network that provides event management and registration software, has split from its parent company and merged with Lanyon, based in Irving, Texas, which offers business travel technology for hotels and travel buyers.
Both companies were recently purchased by private equity firm Vista Equity Partners, Lanyon in January 2013 and Active Network in November 2013. The new company will be called Lanyon.
Active created its Business Solutions division in 2011 after acquiring StarCite, a leader intechnology. Last October, Active announced a nine-month project to integrate the StarCite SMM technology with Active Conference technology, creating a rebranded product called Smart Events Cloud.
In a Lanyon press release, Christopher J. Dwyer, research director at Ardent Partners, a supply management research and advisory firm, commented on the benefits expected from the merger. “To capture, control, and manage meetings, events, and transient hotel spend, the contemporary enterprise requires a series of end-to-end processes that address hotel and venue sourcing, analytics, reporting, spend management, and compliance. Once combined, the ‘new’ Lanyon offering can help procurement and sourcing teams gain a holistic, enterprise-level view of their events-management programs.”
JR Sherman, former senior vice president and general manager of the Active Business Solutions Group, is Lanyon’s president and chief revenue officer. Former Active executive Anthony Miller joined Lanyon as senior vice president of strategy and product management.
