The CN Tower, the world's tallest freestanding building (1,815 feet) and one of the leading attractions in Canada, is taking on a new look and a new marketing approach under the management of Trizec Hahn Corporation.
The tower, which was built in the 1960s to solve radio and television transmission problems (several radio and television channels broadcast from the tower), is being renovated and expanded to create a more exciting attraction and to provide a venue for corporate events.
Among the changes under way at the base of the tower are the addition of a large market cafe, 12,500 square feet of retail space, two new theaters "ideal for product launches," and several smaller meeting rooms, according to a CN Tower spokesperson.
