A stellar group of insurance and financial services executives gathered at the lovely Daufuskie Island Resort in Hilton Head, S.C., August 8 to 12, for the Lynette Owens & Associates Summer Advisory Board. As usual, the meeting mixed great networking activities with educational business sessions. Speakers included Tom McDonald, PhD, on unlocking the power of business creativity, and Wayne Wilkerson, president and CEO of Real Time Engines, a business software company headquartered in Satellite Beach, Fla.
Wilkerson's presentation on business solutions software was one of the meeting's highlights, says Owens. Attendees also learned about technology solutions when two board members who could not attend participated via a video webcast courtesy of GlobeCube, a San Diego — based provider of onlinecommunications (see “Editor's Note,” page 8).
LOA attendees learned the meaning of Southern hospitality at three outstanding resorts: the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa (pre-trip), Daufuskie Island Resort in Hilton Head, and the Radisson Myrtle Beach (post-trip). At Daufuskie, a beachfront 186-room property with an antebullum-style inn and two- and-three-bedroom cottages, recreational activities included sea kayaking and the group's 12th annual golfon one of the resort's two world-class courses.
Those who attended the post-trip to the Radisson Myrtle Beach rode out hurricane Charley without a hitch. “The staff was unbelievable, even without power,” says Owens.
Kim Ziebarth has joined LOA asassistant/special markets sales manager.
The Winter Board Meeting will be held at the Marco Island Hilton in Marco Island, Fla., in January. The dates are yet to be announced. For more information, e-mail Lynette Owens at LFOwens@aol.com.
