Steve Heitzner has been appointed vice president of sales andfor Marriott Lodging, Western Region. His territory will include Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Washington, and Alaska. He formerly was market director of resort strategy for the Marriott and Renaissance Southwest Desert Resorts.
Frank Calaguire has been named senior vice president, hotel sales and marketing operations, for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. Calaguire will serve as the link between on-site sales staff and corporate headquarters. He most recently served as general manager of the Westin Copley Hotel in Boston, where he will continue to be based.
Michael Gehrisch has been selected as president and CEO of the Washington, D.C. — based International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus. Gehrisch, who replaced Ed Nielsen as the organization's top executive in early February, was previously vice president of hotel sales for WorldRes.com.
Patti Furlong has joined Calgary-based Cascadia Destination Management as sales and marketing manager in the new Canmore, Alberta, office. Patti had been director of sales for Tour Canada West. Also in Cascadia's Canmore office, Dana Elzinga was named senior program manager. She had been senior program manager at Tour Canada West.
Brian McCartin has been hired at the Portland Oregon Visitors Association as executive vice president of sales and marketing. McCartin had been general manager of both the Doubletree Hotel Lloyd Center in Portland and Doubletree Portland Downtown.
Gina Farris has been named director of sales at the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort on St. Pete Beach, Fla., the flagship property of the TradeWinds Beach Resorts & Conference Centers. She has been with the property for more than six years, recently serving as assistant director of sales. A 15 year sales veteran, Farris is responsible for sales in the Washington, D.C., area. Mark Moser, CMP, has been appointed director of convention services and catering for the TradeWinds' three St. Pete Beach properties, which also include the Sirata Beach, and the Sandpiper Hotel and Suites. He had been director of catering and convention services at the Hotel Inter-Continental Miami.
Lilian Wagner has joined The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, as director of sales and marketing. She had held the same position at the the Park Hyatt San Francisco.
Ric Nicholson has been appointed director of sales and marketing at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel and Towers. Nicholson had been director of sales and marketing at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue (Wash.) before moving across the lake.
Debbie Hogan has been promoted to director of sales at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on Hawaii's Big Island. She will oversee all group sales.
Wendy Nuckols has been named corporate sales manager at Phoenix's Pointe South Mountain Resort. She had been corporate sales manager at the Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix.
Jorge Pesquera has been appointed executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, overseeing all aspects of tourism marketing and development for Puerto Rico worldwide. Prior to this appointment, he served as executive director of the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau for eight years.
Tammy Lamm has joined the Tampa Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau as national sales manager, handling accounts in the Southeast. Lamm had been director of sales for the TradeWinds Sirata Beach Resort on St. Pete Beach, Fla.
Bob Beach, CMP, has been named director of corporate sales at the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, responsible for short-lead corporate meeting business. Beach most recently had beenaccount director for Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
Jeffrey W. Poole has been appointed national sales director at Rosen Hotels & Resorts. He will be based in Washington, D.C., and will be responsible for association and corporate accounts in the Washington metro area for Orlando's Rosen Centre and Rosen Plaza (both located adjacent to Orlando's convention center), and an as-yet-unnamed resort property in Orlando. Poole was formerly national director of sales for Omni Hotels.
