Among the more charming ways that the Renaissance Vinoy Resort in St. Petersburg, Fla., is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year is the introduction of afternoon tea service. The move could, in fact, signal a business trend. With time ever-more precious and health-consciousness high, elaborate business lunches and chummy cocktail hours may be fading into the background. Could a cup of tea and a scone provide the setting for deal-makers in the new century?
The Renaissance Vinoy, whose 258-room main building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, makes that setting all the more gracious. The resort also offers 102 new tower rooms.
Its 27,340 square feet of meeting space includes the original 6,200-square-foot Vinoy Grand Ballroom; the 11,340-square-foot Palm Court Ballroom; and, at the Vinoy Golf Club, the new 4,000-square-foot Sunset Ballroom.
