Scores Don't Matter in Business Golf Your sales reps know how valuable a round of golf can be in developing business relationships, and even in closing deals. But how many of them know that the way they play the round--and not their score--is what really counts? The Spirit of the Game, a new video produced by the United States Golf Association (USGA), is aiming to spread the message to all golfers that a knowledge of golf etiquette should be a prerequisite for every player before hitting the links.

Spearheaded by golf legend and USGA members' program national chairman Arnold Palmer, the 53-minute video is a lively and informative presentation, with tips from celebrity golfers (former President George Bush, National Football League Hall of Fame running back Jim Brown, and NBC Today Show host Matt Lauer, among others), and film clips that show history in the making at vintage tournaments.

The video covers proper behavior from tee to green, including advice on keeping up the pace of play, maintaining the course, golf cart etiquette, and event tips for playing fair and treating others with respect. Sounds like the ideal giveaway for your next major sales conference.

USGA members can request a free copy of the video (one-year USGA memberships cost $15). Call (800) 345-USGA or visit Nonmembers who want to purchase the video for $20 or the accompanying brochure for $1 can call (800) 336-4446.

The Country's Best Courses The Doral Resort and Spa in Miami took the trophy for Course of the Year at the second annual APEX Awards. The award is given to those courses with the best facilities for handling tournaments and events.

The entire NAGTD membership judged 50 course finalists based on tournament support, amenities, food and beverage, access opportunity, and course condition. The APEX Awards will be handed out again this year, during the NAGTD Convention in November.
