HYATT, CONTINENTAL, AND TWA TOP LATEST CONSUMER SURVEYS Hyatt topped the list of upscale hotel chains in the J.D. Power and Associates 1999 Hotel Guest Satisfaction Study, closely followed by Marriott, Hilton and Wyndham (tied for third), and Crowne Plaza. Meanwhile, Continental Airlines ranked first in customer satisfaction on long-haul flights (more than 500 miles), with TWA in second place; TWA was the best for short-haul flights, with Southwest placing second.
The hotel survey covered more than 100 hotel chains in five market segments and polled 16,109 frequent hotel guests. The airline survey polled 6,520 frequent flyers on factors such as on-time performance, check-in, and food.
