At the Greater Louisville (Ky.) Convention and Visitors Bureau, Joyce Howlett has been promoted to senior sales manager of the convention sales department. This is a new position, created for Howlett, who has been with the bureau for 14 years. Howlett's responsibilities include the insurance market.

The San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau has named Peter M. Green as vice president of sales and services. Among his duties will be the management of the convention sales staff. Since 1998, Green has been director of sales and marketing at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.

Misti Kerns took over July 1 as executive director of the Santa Monica (Calif.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. A 20-year veteran of the industry, Kerns, who joined the bureau in 1997, was director of sales and marketing, and was mentored for several years by the former director, Beverly Moore. Also at the Santa Monica CVB, Joanne M. Bogus has been named director of corporate sales. Prior to her appointment, Bogus founded Restaurants Direct Inc., a private event planning and booking service.

William E. Murphy Jr. has been named vice president, sales and marketing, at Sonesta Hotels, Resorts and Nile Cruises, based in Boston. Murphy joins Sonesta after three years as regional director of sales and marketing at Starwood Hotels and Resorts, which is also headquartered in Boston.

Jeffrey W. Rudder has been appointed sales manager for the Hershey Resorts sales and marketing division, in Hershey, Pa. He most recently was director of sales and marketing for MeriSar Hotel Corp. at Sheraton Great Valley, Frazer, Pa.

At Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina in Cambridge, Md., Amy Fuss Rossi, CMP, has been named senior sales manager. The resort will open in March 2002. Fuss Rossi previously worked as regional sales manager for Seminar Source and as a global account director for Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

Barbara Bailey has been named sales manager at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va. A 20-year veteran of the hotel industry, Bailey comes to The Homestead from the Marriott Corp., where she held sales management positions.

Stewart F. Davis has been named director of sales and marketing at The Seelbach in Louisville, Ky. Davis was most recently director of sales and marketing at the Hilton St. Petersburg in Florida.

The TradeWinds Beach Resorts and Conference Centers, based in St. Pete Beach, Fla., has named Michael Choiniere vice president, sales and marketing. Prior to joining TradeWinds, Choiniere was director of sales and marketing at the Westin Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla.

Anne Phillips has been appointed director of mid-Atlantic sales at Opryland Hotel Florida, opening in February. She was formerly national sales manager at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts.

At the 800-room Rosen Plaza, adjacent to the Orange County Convention Center, Victoria Hall has been named director of sales and marketing. Before joining the Rosen Plaza, Hall spent two years as associate director of sales at The Rosen Center, also in Orlando.

Jennifer Westley was appointed sales manager at The Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club in Naples, Fla. Westley was previously sales manager for The Residence Inn, also in Naples.

At Benchmark Hospitality, Mark Kontny has been named associate director of sales and marketing for The AT&T Learning Center in Basking Ridge, N.J. Previously, Kontny was director of sales and marketing for the Founder's Inn in Virginia Beach, Va.

David S. Radcliffe, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau, will retire at the end of the year. Radcliffe has been with the bureau for 14 years; in 1997 he was elected chairman of the International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus. After his retirement from the bureau, Radcliffe plans to develop his own company specializing in advisory services to the hospitality industry.
