The 860-room Westin New York at Times Square will open in spring 2002, next to E Walk, a 200,000-square-foot entertainment, retail, and restaurant complex opening this spring. Both projects are being developed by Tishman Realty & Construction Co. The hotel will offer more than 26,000 square feet of meeting space, and guest rooms will offer dual-line phones with data ports.
Dolce International has assumed management of Oak Brook Hills Hotel & Resort outside Chicago. The 150-acre resort offers 384 guest rooms, more than 35,000 square feet of meeting space, and a full-service business center. All meeting rooms have ISDN and T1 connections and videoconferencing is available on site. There is also a golf course and an expansive fitness complex on property.
The Boston Back Bay Hilton has opened 66 new Executive King rooms specifically designed for business travelers. The rooms have a business desk and ergonomic chair, two-line phones with data port, and either wall-to-wall windows or a balcony. The 385-room hotel has 14 meeting rooms for up to 300 guests.
The Grove Park Inn Resort in Asheville, N.C., is building a $13 million, 40,000-square-foot spa to open in the spring of 2000. The 510-room property, to be renamed the Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa, offers 50,000 square feet of meeting space.
Puerto Rico's Las Casitas in Las Croabas has joined the portfolio of Wyndham International's luxury brand, Grand Bay. As at all Grand Bay resorts, there is a full-service Golden Door spa, which recently opened. The resort's 90 casitas have one to three bedrooms and fully equipped kitchens. Guests have access to the amenities of the adjacent Wyndham El Conquistador Resort & Country Club, including a casino, an 18-hole golf course, and other recreation options.
The Hotel Hershey and the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center in Hershey, Pa., are expanding and renovating this year. The Hotel Hershey's 235 rooms and public space will be refurbished by May. Meanwhile, the Lodge & Convention Center will add 51,000 square feet of meeting space (for a total of 100,000 square feet) and a new tower with 231 additional guest rooms (for a total of 665) and four meeting rooms.
Mirage Resorts has opened Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Miss., on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The $600 million resort offers 1,780 guest rooms (66 suites) and 50,000 square feet of meeting space (including a 17,000-square-foot ballroom). Other highlights: a 30-slip marina, an 85,000-square-foot casino, a health spa, and Cirque du Soleil performances in a 1,550-seat showroom.
