The U.S. Department of Commerce is looking for travel and tourism leaders to serve on Brand USA’s Board of Directors.
Brand USA is the destination marketing organization for the U.S. and is run by the Corporation for Travel Promotion, a nonprofit organization created through the Travel Promotion Act and funded through private donations and fees generated by international travelers coming to the US.
There are four openings on the 11-member board, which is currently chaired by Carolina Beteta, president and CEO of Visit California. Other members include George Fertitta, president and CEO of NYC and Co.; Randy Garfield, president of the Walt Disney Travel Co.; Diane Shober, Tourism Director for the State of Wyoming; Arne Sorenson, president and CEO of Marriott International; and Chef Roy Yamaguchi, owner of Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine restaurants. The purpose of the board is to guide Brand USA on matters relating to the promotion of the U.S. travel and tourism industry.
The Department of Commerce is seeking individuals with expertise in the following sectors of the travel and tourism industry: attractions or recreation; passenger air; immigration law and policy, including visa requirements and U.S. entry procedures; and inner-city passenger railroad. A notice was posted in the Federal Register on July 24.
