Applications are being accepted through January 15, 2013, for a new award recognizing “leadership, innovation, and commitment to developing sustainable business travel and meetings programs.”
The new Outstanding Achievement Awards for Sustainability program was created by Project Icarus, an initiative of the Global Business Travel Association Foundation that’s helping companies integrate sustainability into the way they manage and run travel programs.
The judges will look for sustainability programs that have a serious commitment to the three key aspects of sustainability (social, environmental, and economic), that show creativity in their procurement practices, and that measure their results.
The new awards program has categories for both travel buyers and travel suppliers and will be awarded at the GBTA Foundation Dinner in New York in March 2013.
