The Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions has announced that, effective July 23, 2012, Robin R. King, CAE, will be its executive director. He replaces former executive director Paul Weber, who retired this spring.
King’s responsibilities include implementing ACEHP’s plan to meet the continuing education needs for all health professions through advocacy, patient-centered curricula, professional development opportunities, and collaboration. He also will manage the Alliance’s finances and operations, including developing membership products and services, providing research-based education, improving organizational communications and advocacy, and liaising with healthcare organizations and key stakeholders in alignment with directives from the Alliance’s board of directors.
“The appointment of Robin King reflects the Alliance’s commitment to move forward with new ideas, a revitalized sense of purpose, and strong management leadership,” says ACEHP President Damon K. Marquis.
King’s more-than 20 years of experience as a senior-level executive includes directing complex national corporate and governmental organizations in the areas of communications, public-private partnerships, government relations, and brand strategy. He also is well versed in developing continuing education programs, leading strategic policy initiatives for national associations, and forging alliances with key organizational stakeholders and policy decision-makers.
Most recently, he was the founder and principal of Public Policy Communications, an independent consultancy that advised not-for-profit organizations on healthcare policy strategy and planning, including developing membership and education programs. He also has served as director of external affairs at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, vice president of communications and government relations for The Aluminum Association, and as the director of communications for NASDAQ, then based in Washington, D.C.
