The American Society of Transplant Surgeons has appointed Gail Durant to executive director. Durant was formerly executive director of the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association, a position she held since 1984.
CONVENTION CENTERS & BUREAUS Jeannie Starnes has been appointed to the newly created position of international meetings and incentive sales andmanager at the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc. Starnes came to the Bureau from the Orlando World Center Marriott where she was international sales manager.
Kathy Gadwau has joined the Metropolitan Detroit Convention & Visitors Bureau as vice president of sales and marketing. She was previously director of corporate strategy and marketing with Visioneering, Inc. in Fraser, Mich.
Lisa Parman has joined the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau as corporate sales manager. She previously was associate director of corporate sales with the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau. In addition to the insurance and pharmaceutical markets, Parman will be responsible for sales to corporations in the Northeast and Southeast.
Jim Windsor has been named national sales manager at the Greater Birmingham (Ala.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. Most recently he was general manager of the Wingate Hotel in Birmingham.

Mark Juliano has been appointed president and chief operating officer of the 2,000-room resort hotel being developed in the Marina District of Atlantic City by Mirage Resorts Inc. Juliano was president and chief operating officer of Caesars Atlantic City.
