Diane J. Mancino, EdD, RN, CAE, has been appointed executive director of the National Student Nurses Association, Inc., New York, NY. She had been deputy executive director for the association. She replaces Robert V. Pemonte, who retired in April.
The Hinman Dental Society of Atlanta has selected Sylvia Ratchford as its new executive director. In addition to managing the daily activities of the society, Ratchford will oversee the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting, which annually attracts more than 23,000 dentists and other professionals. She had been executive director of Atlanta Market Center Trade Shows and Convention Center Sales.
Barbara Freel, CMP, has joined the American Public Health Association in Washington, DC as director of convention services. Freel was the founder of BFreel Associates, a San Francisco Bay area firm specializing in national and international meeting planning and convention management services. She was also the assistant director of meetings at the American Academy of Ophthalmology for 13 years.

She is responsible for developing the company's healthcare and distance learning videoconferencing business. Previously, Whitehead was with VTEL Corporation, Austin, TX, and is past assistant project director for the Texas Telemedicine Project.
Convention Centers and Bureaus Joe K. Kilgore II was named director of convention sales at the Chattanooga (TN) Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Kilgore had been director of sales and marketing for the Radisson Read House in Chattanooga.
Naohiko Sasaki has joined the Japan National Tourist Organization's New York office as director. He had been involved with transport and tourism policy at Japan's Ministry of Transport in Tokyo.

She had been director of consumer marketing for the TropWorld Casino and Entertainment Resort in Atlantic City.
Murray Ryan has been named sales manager for the Chicago office of the Puerto Rico Convention Bureau. He is responsible for the association market in the Midwest, and had been national sales manager at the Fairmont Hotel Chicago.
Hotels and Travel ITT Sheraton has appointed Kay Heder vice president of Sheraton Marketing Corporation, a title she adds to her current designation of and director of national corporate meeting sales. Also at ITT Sheraton, Ronald Tarson was named vice president and regional director, hotel marketing, North America division as well as director of marketing for the Sheraton Boston Hotel & Towers. Tarson had been rooms division director for the Sheraton Centre Hotel & Towers in Toronto and director of hotel marketing, North America division.
Sam Bonfe has been appointed the first director of convention and meeting services for Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites. Based in Washington, DC, Bonfe will be responsible for direct recruiting, training, development, compensation, and motivation of conference and convention services staff for all Marriott brands. He will also coordinate standardization of, master billing, group resumes, and post-convention reports across properties. Before his promotion, Bonfe was senior director of catering standards for Marriott International in Washington, DC.
Hugh Templeman was appointed director of sales and marketing at the new Ritz-Carlton, Bali in Indonesia, scheduled to open in December.
