The Professional Meeting Planners Network has opened a Northeast national sales office in Middletown, N.J., with Albert F. Courter III at the helm. PMPN is a meeting planning company, founded by Rod Abraham, that specializes in the health care and pharmaceutical fields.

Sharon L. D'Andrea, PharmD, has joined Meniscus Educational Institute in West Conshohocken, Pa., as associate education director. MEI is an accredited sponsor of CE for physicians, pharmacists, and nurses.

I.C. Axon, the Montréal-based e-learning developer, has appointed John Monahan as president and CEO. Monahan will succeed Jean Lalonde, who will remain as chairman of the board of directors. I.C. Axon provides what it calls “customer learning management solutions” to the health care industry. Monahan was most recently president of Innovex LP, which provided sales and marketing solutions to pharmaceutical companies.

HOTELS, RESORTS, AND CONFERENCE CENTERS

Jeffrey W. Rudder has been appointed sales manager for the Hershey Resorts sales and marketing division, in Hershey, Pa. He most recently was director of sales and marketing for MeriSar Hotel Corp. at Sheraton Great Valley, Frazer, Pa.

The TradeWinds Beach Resorts and Conference Centers, based in St. Pete Beach, Fla., has named Michael Choiniere vice president, sales and marketing. Prior to joining TradeWinds, Choiniere was director of sales and marketing at the Westin Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla.

Anne Phillips has been appointed director of Mid-Atlantic sales at Opryland Hotel Florida, opening in February in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Phillips had been national sales manager at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts.

At the 800-room Rosen Plaza, adjacent to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Victoria Hall has been named director of sales and marketing. Before joining the Rosen Plaza, Hall spent two years as associate director of sales at The Rosen Center, also in Orlando.

Jennifer Westley was appointed sales manager at The Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club in Naples, Fla. She had been sales manager for The Residence Inn in Naples.

In Vail, Colo., Steve Ferency has been appointed national sales manager at the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa. He joins the resort from Keystone Resort in Keystone, Colo., where he was national sales manager.

Veronica Jackson has been appointed director of sales and marketing at The Half Moon Bay Lodge in Half Moon Bay, Calif. She comes to the Lodge from the Radisson Miyako Hotel in San Francisco, where she was sales manager.

Steven R. Sampson has been appointed director of sales and marketing at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua on the Island of Maui in Hawaii. Prior to his move to Maui, Sampson was director of sales and marketing for Carefree Resorts at The Boulders in Carefree, Ariz.

CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAUS

David S. Radcliffe, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Convention and Visitors Bureau, will retire at the end of the year. He has been with the bureau for 14 years. In 1997 he was elected to serve as chairman of the International Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus. After his retirement from the bureau, Radcliffe plans to develop his own company specializing in advisory services to the hospitality industry.

The San Jose Convention and Visitors Bureau has named Peter M. Green as vice president of sales and services. Since 1998, Green has been director of sales and marketing at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel.

Misti Kerns has taken over as the executive director of the Santa Monica (Calif.) Convention and Visitors Bureau. A 20-year veteran of the industry, Kerns had been director of sales and marketing.

MEETING SERVICES

Barbara Russell has joined Lynch Exhibits in Burlington, N.J., as director of events management. Russell previously was associate education manager for GlaxoSmithKline.

Ronald S. Moen will join the American Dietetic Association in Chicago as CEO in December. Moen, whose association management career spans more than 20 years, currently serves as executive director of the American Association of Orthodontists in St. Louis. During his 11-year tenure with AAO, Moen specialized in increasing member benefits and services, including the improvement and growth of meetings and conventions. Prior to joining AAO, Moen helped create the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care in Skokie, Ill. He also served with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and is an active member of the American Society of Association Executives.
